We spoke to Martin Serjent who works for Rattlerow Farms Ltd as the Farm Manager about their John Deeres on the farm.
Rattlerow Farms have been customers of Tuckwells for some years now. Rattlerow Farms Ltd farm arable land across Suffolk, as well as several pig breeding and fattening units. They have 9 John Deere 6M’s that are situated at the pig units and a John Deere 8RX370 which works on the arable farm. They will be celebrating their 70 years in business this year just like Tuckwells
Martin says, “I have been working with Tuckwells ever since I have been at Rattlerow’s which is now 30 years! I have always found Tuckwells a good company to work with especially that they sell John Deere.”
“At Rattlerow’s we want to keep good machines in work to reduce the amount of downtime on the farm. John Deere products for us are well built machines and we have been loyal to the brand for some time now, having had John Deere on the pig units for 8 years. Had to persuade the pig unit workers a little but they are all happy using them now. ”
“The John Deere 6M’s are the right size and power for the job in hand at the pig units. The pig men definitely put them to the test – in wet and dry conditions throughout the year.”
“The John Deere 8RX370 was a slight change in type of machine. Our previous machine was a John Deere 8335RT and since having the 8RX370 we have found that it turns better on the headlands for us along with being light on its feet.”
“The software/technology in the John Deere machines is great, so much so that we have added the Greenstar equipment to our Fendt machine’s that we have within our fleet.”
“The best features of the John Deeres are that they are easy to drive, many of our employees can jump in them and drive them with ease. We also have John Deeres due to the back service that Tuckwells offers. Tuckwells have always responded fast to any break down we have had, along with providing a backup machine. That type of service is very important to us due to the nature of looking after animals the machines are in constant use, thus having this type of service gives me peace of mind.”
